Fennec foxes are native to the Sahara desert in Africa. They are the smallest species of fox with the adults averaging less than five pounds. They are omnivorous and eat insects, small rodents, reptiles, eggs, fruit, and desert plants. Their large ears help it to keep cool by radiating out excess heat. It is said that they may be able to hear another moving animal from 1.5 km away. When standing the fennec fox can jump 1.2 m. Typically a litter consist of three kits and are typically born in March- April. It lives in packs of 10-12 animals.
